Anzac Day Street Parade 1929 along Queen Street The procession was led by Lieutenant G.H.O. Barclay. It left from the Drill Hall and headed along Queen Street towards the Olympia Hall, where services were held. The procession included: The Firing Party (Messers R. Moore, A.E. Lewis, A. Good, A. White, A.Williams, C. Carbis, W. Fitzmaurice, E. J. Callander, A. Cameron and A.M. O'Brien) The Silver Band (under Sergt. E. Williams) Returned Soldiers Salvation Army Band Territorials Cadets (under Lieutenants Ensors, Aitken and Kibblewhite) Girl Guides (Captains Hay, Hertslett and Meredith) Salvation Army Lifesaving Guards (Lieutenants Phillips and Hoare) Pipe Band (Drum Major Segar) Civic Authorities Source: Waimate Advertiser Friday April 26, 1929. |
