One wall hanging - made for the Year 2000 celebrations by Annette Davis. - made from fabric with batting inbetween and has been quilted, and applique has been used for the 15 pictures. - is hung from wooden dowel that has carved knobs on each end, and has black satin cord with tassels. - at the bottom of the hanging is a weighted rod. - the wall hanging is made up of 15 Waimate historical buildings and sites - taken from photographs. - the hanging is edged in black with a brown background. - the pictures are (from left to right, starting at the top) - St Patrick's Catholic Church, Walker McGregor & Co (Barrister & Solicitors), old Waimate Post Office. Waimate Hotel, Memorial Clock Tower, Knox Presbyterian Church WWI Memorial Arch at Victoria Park, Waimate High School, County Council Building (now demolished) Waimate Courthouse now Waimate Museum, Seddon Square Band Rotunda, St Augustine's Anglican Church Waimate Wallaby shed, Dr Margaret Cruickshank's statue, the Silos and the Empress Flour Mills. |
